If  you would like to achieve a better look without an invasive surgery, dermal fillers are the best way to go. These facial fillers can improve many conditions of your skin: from lips to cheeks to wrinkles. Juvéderm fillers such as Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella are all made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in the skin that helps to keep it hydrated, plump, elastic, and youthful. Each filler has different functions, however each one helps return the skin to a smoother radiance. If you are not happy with the way that your face is aging or simply looking for plumper lips, eye fillers, or more youthful cheeks – you might be a perfect candidate for Juvéderm filler.

What is Juvéderm ?

Juvéderm is a dermal filler that can be described as soft and stable injectable gel made of hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance present in our skin that assists in adding hydration and volume, however our ability to produce hyaluronic acid declines with age, which can lead to increased dryness, fine lines, wrinkles and sagging.  Juvederm is design to increase the amount of hyaluronic acid in your face, add volume and eliminate wrinkles. Juvederm also promotes muscle linkage and absorbs water, moving the skin outward for a younger, crease-free look. It also binds with naturally occurring collagen and elastin to nourish your skin cells.

How does Juvéderm work?

Unfortunately, as we age, our skin loses the ability to preserve moisture. It results in the visible loss of firmness, pliability, and plumpness on your face. Juvéderm swoops in with the ability to replenish moisture that is crucial to having younger-looking and supple skin. Simultaneously Juvéderm revitalizes skin’s outer layers so they look and feel softer, smoother and hydrated to instantly improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Many dermatology professionals and clinicians perform Juvéderm injections in the mid to deep dermis to temporarily smooth wrinkles and fine lines; replenishing volume in the skin almost instantly. The dermis is part of the subsurface skin layer that includes nerve endings, blood vessels, sweat, oil glands, and connective tissue.

Using a Juvéderm dermal filler is a safe and effective way to replace the hyaluronic acid your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

What to expect during Juvéderm consultation ?

During the initial consultation your doctor will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine your treatment. Juvéderm® fillers have different consistency and are available in two different formulations: Juvéderm® Ultra for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds, and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles, a customized treatment plan is important for achieving the best results.

Your doctor may recommend to avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), for at least a week prior to treatment in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

What to expect during Juvéderm treatment?

The Juvéderm dermal filler treatment is very quick (about 15 minutes) with immediate results and minimal downtime. You can get back to your normal routine right away after the treatment.

Your doctor will start the treatment by marking points on your face where Juvéderm will be introduced, then clean the sites with antibacterial soap and administer a topical anesthetic to numb them. The Juvéderm injection take only a few minutes. Afterwards, your physician will remove all the marks and apply an ice pack to the treatment site to reduce any bruising or swelling you may have.  It’s important  to don’t apply pressure to the treated areas in order to avoid displacement of the Juvéderm filler.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Typically you should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas (normally 1-2 days) with minimal bruising or swelling. Juvéderm is usually well tolerated by most of our patients, but some side effects may occur. It is normal to experience temporary redness, pain or tenderness, unusual firmness, swelling, lumps, bruising, itching, infection, or discoloration at the injection site. Clinical studies have shown that these are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in 7 days or less. If you experience swelling at the injection site, you can apply an ice pack or aracica gel pads.

What areas can be treated with Juvéderm?

Juvéderm was approved in 2006 by FDA (Food and Drug Administration) as the only hyaluronic acid filler that will last up to one year. Juvéderm is a strong and powerful formula designed to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds providing versatility while restoring the contours of your face to a smooth and natural look.

Juvéderm dermal filler is commonly used for injection into the mid to deep dermis (below the outer layer of the skin) for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Some treatments areas  include:

  • Lift and contour your cheeks
  • Smooth and reduce  marionette lines around your mouth
  • Plump/ augment thin or aging lips
  • Smooth parentheses lines and facial creases
  • Acne scars, surgical scars, or other skin depressions

This filler is typically administered in a quick office visit and is combined with the numbing agent such as lidocaine to reduce any post-injection pain. Juvederm® utilizes a naturally-occurring substance in your body, therefore side effects are minimal.

What are the advantages of Juvéderm?

The  greatest advantage of  Juvéderm is that its supple gel consistency provides a more natural-looking appearance than other products available. Juvéderm is also long lasting dermal filler and allows you to keep your improved appearance from six to nine months. If you are considering to have a follow-up enhancement within a few weeks after the first dermal filler treatment, the benefits could last even longer. Side effects are minimal: bruising, tenderness, mild pain, swelling and redness at the injection site and generally resolve within a few days.

How is Juvéderm different from other fillers ?

  1. Juvéderm has a higher concentration of natural occurring in our body substance known as  hyaluronic acid than other fillers and is produced by a special formulation process. This  precise formula allowsJuvéderm a to last longer and to inject smoother. Additionally, it also gives Juvéderm a more transparent appearance, while other fillers tend to be whiter in color.
  2. The higher concentration of hyaluronic acid combined with the smoother formulation make Juvéderm long-lasting filler (6-8 months on average, and in some cases, up to one year). The injection is smooth and easy to fill with, therefore produces more natural even-filling effects and patient discomfort at the injection sites is minimized.  Some patients treated with Juvéderm have noted less swelling or bruising with JUVÉDERM injections, as opposed to other fillers.
  3. Juvéderm is biosynthetic and does not derive from animals. Since an animal source is not used to create the filler, there is little chance of allergic reaction and no testing is required prior to injection. The special Juvéderm formula is highly biocompatible (over its lifespan, it will metabolize with your body) and it  has been proven to be safe and effective for skin of all types and colors.

What kind of results can I expect from a Juvéderm treatment ?

You should notice an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients need a little a as one treatment to achieve satisfactory results and optimal wrinkle smoothing and it can last for up to 1 year. However, results may vary from patient to patient. Often, to achieve and maintain optimal results supplemental “touch up” treatments may be required.

How long does Juvéderm last ?

Juvéderm in the nasolabial area generally lasts nine months to a year.

The results vary from client to client and sometimes supplemental treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results. The area injected, how much product was injected, and how quickly your body metabolizes the product will affect your results.

Is Juvéderm safe?

Yes. Juvéderm is made of HA and over time HA molecules dissolve in your body and turn into water as they depart without leaving any trace in your body. Most side effects including swelling or bruising  are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less).
